Deployment Methods

There are several possible deployement methods for our Fiber-Optic perimeter intrusion detection system.

  • Buried Underground
  • On Wall
  • On Fence
  • On Roof

Buried Underground

divider

Buried installation of the system is also possible for various soft ground types. Typical ground materials are soil, rocks, turf. While Nxtar does provide the recommended sensor cable spacing and number, the final configuration will depend on the earth material and detection requirements.

deployment Nxtar is an expert in underground sensor burial applications. As a result, we have optimized the sensor burial design to four types of recommended designs. These recommended designs are the results from our experiences gained from numerous projects all over the world. Extreme environmental conditions and other concerns are mitigated with our solutions.

The usage of material such as corrugate boards, construction mesh, and gravel guarantees a strong intrusion signal while minimizing nuisance alarms. Our recommended solutions can also withstand years of harsh environemnts.

Our buried installation covers several type of grounds. Four types of recommended underground installation methods are shown below. The final installation method will depend largely on the type of final appearance desired and partly on the detection requirements.

Deployment On Wall

wall The installation on wall-top is easy and offers a very low false alarm rate. The cables are laid into channels on top of the wall and then covered with rocks or other similar material.

Any attempts by a real body mass to climb the wall will be detected while small animals will be ignored.

Any drilling or breaking through will be also detected, the wall transmitting the vibration to the rocks and therefore to the covered sensing fiber.

Deployment On Fence

fence On fence installation is possible on a large range of fences. Typical applications range from welded to cross-linked fences.

Concertina fence mounting is also possible. Nxtar's fiber-optic sensors do not require looping back. However, the number of sensing lines required will depend on the fence height, fence stiffness, and detection requirements.

Deployment On Roof

roof On roof installation is possible if the roof of the building is flat and covered with pebbles or gravel. The fiber is buried in the gravels and any footstep on the roof will trigger an alarm but not by rain or strong wind.
